for me:
best:
Led Zepplin: Stairway to heaven
hendrix: voodoo chile,

worst: anything thats jsut random notes. you can play note all day long but if theres no feeling or rythm, they have no meaning.

of the best there is Hendrix-Voodoo Chile,Derek and the Dominoes-Why Does Love Have To Be So Sad?,The Allmans-Blue Sky----the worst I tend to agree with you about Locomotion--why would a band as great as Grand Funk do such a dumb song?but anything by Eddie Van Halen sucks--he is the most overrated guitar player EVER----speaking of Grand Funk,I cant forget to put Paranoid or Inside Lookin Out in the best catagory

My favorite popular solos that I can think of are...

David Gilmour-Have a Cigar and the first song on the Division Bell album.
John Fruscinte-Mellowship in B Major
Jimmy Page-No Quarter
Jimi Hendrix-Voodoo Chile.
Eric Clapton-Have You Ever Loved a Woman.

But my favorite of any music is...

John Chiodini-You Don't Know, from the Peggy Lee album Sings the Blues. That solo is amazing.
Duke Robillard-All of the Dukes Blues album.
Also, all of the Grant Green album, Matador.
Most of the Charlie Byrd album, The Artistry of...

The worst solo is from the song I Know There's Something Going On, by the band Frida. It sounds like he barely knows how to use his guitar. 80's music wasn't big on the guitar solos.

How about "Peg" by Steely Dan?
Worst: Alabama by Neal Young. One note solos don't really do it for me.
