I have two male guinea pigs, but I cant figure out how to keep them occupied. They seem to be bored all the time, and I cant let them outside to graze becase it's too cold. What should I do to their cage or what should I give them to give them something to do?

I already bred one, they are father and son guineas. They have occasional skirmishes, but they do fine. Thats just a footnote for Casey D.

The best toy I have found is a plastic spoon. I got the wrapped kind from a fast food place and tossed it in their cages. They toss it around and even run it up and down their bars for the sound occasionally.
If you can find the cat balls that have a bell inside you could also try that. My guys will shake the ball for hours if I'd let them. Just make sure that the holes in the ball are big enough for them to be able to grip the ball with their teeth, yet small enough so the bell doesn't get out.
You can get the balls and a playpen to let them run around in from Walmart. If they get bored with a toy, take it away and reintroduce it later. They'll fall in love all over again. Good Luck.

Guinea pigs can see some color, so make their cage colorful. bird toys that hang from the top of the cage with colorful wood to chew on. They love things that make noise like bells. Cat balls with bells are perfect. Guinea pigs also like looking at them selves. Try putting mirrors in their cage, extra treat put a mirror with a bell on it. Put a hay rack in their cage and put treats and hay, make it some what of a challenge to get to their favorate treat. And You need to make sure their cage is big enough for 2 pigs.

what you are expecting can be only expected from a dog. most of the pets don't respond by their names. and if you get bores so easily bored then i think you better stick to fishes as every time you can have new fishes and you will not get bored. rest of the pets and even some expensive fishes require lot of care and maintenance so you will be over burdened with the job in hand. Gennie Pigs are quick breeder so many like them as pets as every other day something new is happening. pets that breed in captivity are often liked by their owners. so that's how not many people get bored by Gennie Pigs.

We had 12 guinea pigs dropped off at the shelter I use to work at, we put them loose in the bathroom with stuff to climb and chew and hid food around for them. They loved the ramp we put in their cage too! They love toys with bells too, like cat toys. Another fun thing to do it hang bunches of hay around, some just out of reach so they have to figure out how to get it down. For the rabbits I use to take toilet paper rolls and put treats in them and seal off the ends so they have to figure out how to get the food out! I hope this helps!!

They like to have things to run thru, such as pvc piping, which they can also get on top of. Every now and then just put your hand in there to make it scurry. But most of all, they really enjoy company. Just becareful that both are the same sex. I ended up with 15 of them.

first things first - if you want to continue to keep two boars together, don't breed either of them, if u do they will start fighting
Back to the question; You don't have to give them anything fancy, just some simple every-day items will keep them occupied for hours:
*block of wood - just chuck it in, they will chew and climb on it
*cardboard box - rip some holes in it and throw it in
*newspaper - they'll rip it to shreds, and the ink won't harm them.
ALSO: hang a carrot or cob of corn from the top of their cage - they love it!

the best thing to do is to let them have more space - would you be able to let them run around in an enclosed area of a barn or in a shed if it is too cold to be outside? these are some suggestions i would say as to stopping them getting bored:
*let them have more room
*buying a dog's treat/reward ball from a store and filling it with seeds/grains/treats
*fill a shallow litter or seed tray with soil and bury bits of veg in it
*provide plastic pipes for them to run through and hide in
*lots of bedding such as straw or hay to rumage about in
*make a rack out of chicken wire to put their may in, it wll take them longer to pull it all out!
*hook dried corn cobs to the wire mesh to nibble on
*ink-free cardboard boxes to hide in and nibble on
*plant pots with doors knocked/cut into them
*logs or fruit tree branches to nibble
hope this helps, my piggies love these ideas
