I don't really care too much about the private lives, or political positions, of celebrities. (Also, I don't much care how good a singer, dancer or actor Bush, Cheney, Kerry, Gore, etc. might be!)
But they are always in my face - at the checkout line, if nowhere else.
I'll take him at his word - that he feels strongly and sincerely about this.
Whether I agree or disagree, I like to presume sincerity. You don't have to be the person directly affected to advocate a point of view. I am glad the civil rights movement gave rights to blacks, but I'm white.
P.S. I liked Fight Club. I thought it was interesting how everyone was searching for freedom and then gave it up so willingly to Tyler Durden. what was the author trying to say?

I rather doubt he is gay. The fact that he is showing support for the gay movement indicates a rational thinking human being who knows that if you do not stand up for the rights of others, they will not stand up for you when someone takes your rights away. (sometimes just because there is no one left to stand up)

It's unbelievably ignorant of you to assume that the man is gay just because he believes in equality and justice.
First, they came for the gays,
I was straight so I didn't say anything
They came for the blacks,
I was white so I didn't say anything
They came for the Jews,
It didn't affect me, I didn't say anything
They finished off the Catholics,
I wasn't one so I didn't say anything

I think it means that he is not trying to get married again, if you love someone and want to get married you would not be thinking about what others can and can't do.
