Double sided carpet tape.
I keep a spiral bound pad on the desk for jotting things in.
No lists. I always think I'm clever enough to remember things. Then I forget them straight away.
I've never done journals. The only thing I have always done is a "treasure box". It's full of trinkets to which are attached all sorts of memories. Meaningless to anybody else, but they mean the world to me.

- scotch tape, and NO duct tape doesn't always do the job, i had a hole in my window screen, put duct tape over it for a quick fix, and it didn't stick!

tape: masking, I use it a lot with compound scroll sawing.
use to jot down: 3x5 index cards, There's a place where I can get then really cheap ($1.50 for about 500).
random lists of things to remember: just to-do lists, and even then I sometimes forget.
journal: no, but I wish I had; after 5 years of flipping burgers, I'd have collected enough material for several years' worth of stand-up comedy routines.

Jot down: Scrap paper
Lists?: Definitely, I've done it since high school
Journal: Yes since elementary school (I Keep them all too)
(I also have a separate journal where I write down song lyrics and poems and bible verses and stuff that I like)
