NO! A female only looses her virginity when she haves sexual intercourse for the first time. Just cause a woman uses a tampon that haves nothing to do with loosing her virginity.

No this is an old wives tale.
All women are born with a layer of skin over the vagina called the hymen. This starts to break down and tear as we get older from physical activity - exercise bike riding etc.
If this wasn't the case a woman would not be able to have periods.
Losing your virginity means having a man insert his penis into his vagina. Anything else that may tear the hymen like tampons , bike riding etc is not sex.
Sometimes the hymen is not broken completely when a woman has sex for the first time and it is torn in the process - this is why some people blead during sex.
Another factor is that if your hymen hasn't broken enough you may mot be able to use tampons till you are older.
Your friend is still a virgin.

She can not "lose her virginity" but the Hymen can be broken by Tampon use if it hasnt already been broken /torn by sport etc.
The act of "losing your virginity" is something totally different, the physical and emotional act of intercourse for the first time can not be likened to the breaking or tearing of a womans Hymen through use of a tampon. This is just your body reacting normally.

Only stupid people use the hymen as a sign of virginity. It's an F'ing piece of skin. It can rip from a fall off a fricken swing at the age of 4. All a virgin is, is a person who has not engaged in sexual intercourse. That's a virgin, F this hymen stuff. It doesn't mean anything. In fact I would not wanna be placed with the task of ripping her hymen open and causing pain. I'm tired of this uber religious, science is evil non sense, hymen=virginity is a load of crap. I think you need to reconsider your life as you hinder the rest of the population.

Not neccessarily.
Technically.. what makes you NOT a virgin anymore is when you have SEX!
BUT when you break your hymen (the thin piece of skin inside of you) you "pop your cherry" and break the skin. When this occurs you will bleed a little bit and be sore.
This can happen for various reasons. I had a friend that fell onto the front part of her bike so hard inbetween her legs that she broke hers. Sometimes tampons do or if you shove your fingers inside of you as well. But it isnt always true. I used tampons from day one and I didnt break my hymen til I had intercourse.

maybe she thought she lost it but that's ridiculous, virginity doesn't mean that nothing has been up there, because they you'd be losing your virginity at your annual pap smear too... she could have broke her hymen but tons of other things can do that, even riding a bike.... bottom line, the only way to lose your virginity is from a penis... not a tampon.

no you cant lose your virginity using a tampon. either your friend needs better sexual education or she is being cruel in winding you up.
if like you she is not so sexually clued up why don't you both take a trip to your local family planning clinic for a chat, they will answer any questions you have without making you feel stupid, also it's safer than trying to figure things for yourself and making a big mistake. and don't worry everything you ask them is confidential

Being a virgin means that you've never had sex! That has nothing to do with a tampon.
As long as you change your tampon about every 4 hours or so, whether you're bleeding heavily or not...you never have to worry about TSS...it's very rare...and pads are gross!!!!

you can never tell,...
there's a chance that she's saying the truth if she had used too big tampons. they have different sizes and if she used those for extra bleeding and suitable for adult women.... well, it's possible that she is telling the truth. the question that bothers me is how she would know that she losed her virginity.
if there was a sexual act the situation is clear. if there wasn't any she could be still virgin
