I am 13 weeks pregnant and have TERRIBLE TERRIBLE sciatica. I do okay once I am up and moving (it just takes a while). But, when I am trying to sleep at night, it seems the only relief I get is when I am laying on my stomach. Is this unsafe? I do not have a "Big Belly" yet, but my stomach is starting to buldge. Any advice for sciatica relief is welcome. But my main question IS SLEEPING ON YOUR STOMACH SAFE DURING EARLY PREGNANCY?

I think it's okay, but most doctors prefer that you sleep on your left side and sometimes on your back! You might want to contact your doctor and let him know what's going on and maybe your doctor can give you the best advice for you and your baby! congratulations and good luck

Call me "Old school" but, I dont know what sciatica is? Is it something to do with the back? Here I am in Medical School, and I dont know what that means, that's going to bug me now, until i get done here, then I'll get out my Medical Encyclopedia, just to look that one up!! Honey, if you dont feel any discomfort, I would sleep on my stomache, until you cant anymore, because you still have another 33 weeks to go!! And after, this point you wont be able too... If its not hurting you,or the baby isn't kicking yet, sleep on your tummy!!! And I do believe any doctor will tell you the same!! Enjoy it while you can, but time flies by so fast anymore, you will be looking at your "Beautiful New Baby" before you know it!!! I'm Happy for you & your Hubby!!! Congratulations, and rest-up, you'll be needing it, come delivery day!!! Smile!!!

I don't know about the pregnancy part itself but being pregnant makes it VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP THAT WAY, but if your doctor doesn't tell you can't then by all means try it . also i would talk to your doctor about the sciatica cause there's certain medicines that you CAN'T HAVE DURING PREGNANCY OK.
