My 8 year old son fell and hurt his neck. He's very active plays football. He is still complaining about it hurting. Do I need to take him to emergency? It happened 3 days ago.

If it was hurting after he fell, you should have contacted your doctor right then and there. For now, you can call the doctor and see what they want you to do. If for now, they just want you to wait until morning and then bring him in, then do that.

May want to also consider getting him in to see a good chiropractor.. that is an area that is their specialty. Also find almost immediate relief when that young. A neck injury was my first experience with a chiropractor and my injury prevented me from being able to swallow. I swallowed before I even got off the table. That was the one and only treatment I received.

Children have large heads in proportion to their body. This extra weight may cause injury to the neck from seemingly minor trauma.

It may just be muscle strain or ligament damage but you should make sure.

Get him a doctors as soon as you can. He might have just pulled something, but you need to make sure. My thoughts on taking kids to the doctors is, if it's serious enough for you to question whether it's necessary, then it's necessary.
But use your judgment.
