Anyone else can't stand this anti-american blabbering idiot? Hes a Fidel Castro, Iranian Government (facist regime, btw) supporter, he wants to make himself a permanent presidnet, he wishes for the decline of america and I believe wants americans dead (he would nuke all of america if he had the chance, the guys a maniac), he cheated to win the venezeualan elections, He is blatantly anti-semetic and very racist, etc...

and i can go on and on, but there are still americans (some friends of mine) that I know that love the guy all because he hates bush. Well, its not just Bush he hates, he hates all president (may be except Carter?), and america and everything it stands for (as shown when he wants to declare himself permanent president).

So what do you guys/girls think of him?

I lived in Venezuela in the '50s and watched as Latin America fell in love with left-wing "populists" (read Money-Stealing, People-Raping Dictators).

Chavez is the very definition of back-to-the-future. Not to mention being a total dead-end for the Vennies. Not that the two parties that dominated the country for 40 years were all that much better!

Wait 'til the oil money begins to dry up - then the sh!t will REALLY hit the fan (oops, I mean the people!).

Hugo Chavez is the elected president of Venezeula. He was an intelligent kid who was born in the ghetto, joined the military Worked his way up to Colonel, and then entered politics. His power base is the poor people of Venezuela. Chavez was freely elected. Look at the other elected officials in South America and you will see populist movements in nearly every country. Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay all have recently elected left leaning socialists, along with Venezeula. Isn't that their right? Perhaps the CIA has been too tied up in the Middle East to stop the democracy movement in South America

Why do you believe he wants americans dead? Have you been to Venezuela recently?

Hugo Chavez could come to power in Venezuela as a result of traditional US (United Fruit Co., Chevron Oil, etc) policies toward Latin American countries. Chavez hates what Bush represents more than the persona. There is a movie I wish all Americans could see but unfortunately it is banned in the US. "Voices Innocentes" is the Spanish title which translates to "Innocent Voices" in English. It graphically points out what happens to countries who fall from grace with the US political-big business machine.
There's no justification for how Chavez took control. His purpose might have some justification in light of US politics in the region. He is following the pattern of Castro in Cuba, , Sandino in Nicaragua, etc. etc. Each was looking for an alternative to the oppressive policies of governments fostered and supported by "manifest destiny", "big money" and "Judeo Christianity". All powers of materialistic gain for the few at the cost of the majority. Unfortunately in most cases the alternative was some form of corrupted communism with no real answers to the problems, as Che Guevara found out.
His counterpart is now active in Mexico and using the same age old revolutionary tactics to destabilize and disrupt the economy and government. Chavez and Lopez Obrador among others, are supported by the remaining "communist" governments of the world such as China, Vietnam and Cuba as well as the "leftist" governments still active in the world.
North America has not yet begun to suffer for the abuse it has fostered on Latin American countries but it won't be long in coming. There are more Chavezes waiting in the wings as is demonstrated by the current leader of Bolivia.

Yes, he is quickly turning himself into a dictator, like his great example Castro.

The problem is, he has been chosen by the people of Venezuela and is therefore their rightful leader, annoying as it is. I think that until he puts himself above the law like cooking the election results, there is little you can do . I fear a path to dictatorship, fueled by paranoia is very likely. He's already ordered thousands of kalashnikovs and other weaponry. It will probably end in tears, but a lot of blame lies with the Venezuelan people for voting him in office. It was probably an act of desperation on their side, a wish to escape poverty. It is a sad consequence of democracy in countries that aren't developed enough.
One consideration: The US has often behaved badly in South America, so they have to accept they are being disliked in that Continent.

What you tell are lies.Hugo Chavez is a democratically elected leader and yes he undermines US interest by not following America's decrees like a slave and offering many countries an alternative to blindly following the US line.He seriously threatens the right wing hold on this world and so you hate him, hahahahahaha.Pathetic
Chavez is the hope of the ever growing left wing who doesn't believe big business is holy and strongly believe people come before profit.
Vive la revolucion!

What proof do you have of these allegations? Hmm, do you think he really hates americans when he supplied discounted oil to those in america who the government would not help? Soo basically I would like you to go on and on with why you think he hates americans.Cause you saying so or any media in this twisted country saying so, doesnt make it truth.
I think that much like the leader of every other country we terrorize he hates our government for the lies destruction and misery they cause worldwide. I think he secretly fearful that we will do something to kill him as we have done many other so called dictators.

Sharpshooters within the CIA should be encouraged...
(and he'd hate Carter but let him live awhile until real Americans were killed.)
