The actual burning time is regulated by the disk drive and the quality of the disk. What nearly always takes a lot of time and resources is the encryption from an mpeg or the like to a DVD format. This is also a hardware solution down to hard drive speed, amount of memory and CPU speed.
If you want a DVD that works on a standard player there really arn't many get arounds. Basically turn off any programmes you aren't using, start Nero up and go have a cup of tea, turn on the TV, or leave it going if your going out or going to bed.

not sure if it is any faster than Nero,but DVD shrink is probably the best DVD burner i have used. you can remove foreign languages, menus and commentaries etc allowing you to fit full DVDs on to recordable discs.can be downloaded from the net.

Your burn speed is more related to the write speed of your DVD burner and the CPU and memory on your computer (for rendering purposes if needed) than the software you're using.

I use nero and alcohol 120% it can emulate dvd roms as well as image maker and burning, good luck

divx can hold more on a dvd and is quicker but you need dvd with divx decoder.
