Yes, the USA is becoming more and more a democracy. Which takes us further and further away from what the founders intended. Away from the rule of law toward "democracy" also know as the Mob rule.
The single thing that distinguishes a free country from others is the rule of law. The law limits the power, scope and actions of government, which protects individual rights and preserves freedom. A democratic government (mob rule) is not bound by such limits and individual rights survive at the whim of the mob.
Every democracy winds up as a dictatorship. Because the rule of the mob destroys the rule of law, and with it individual rights. Eventually the tyranny of the mob is replaced by a single tyrant.

The founding fathers would be aghast at people having a problem with the 10 commandments in the courtroom. They would not understand why it would be politically incorrect to say "merry Christmas", Why there are so many unwed teenage pregnancies, Why is there more sex in schools, and less education, why to criminals get more rights than victims, why are there generations of people on welfare, why can't kids read, why is the divorce rates over 50%, why do kids not honor their mother and father. Why are both parents working and the kids are sitting around? Why do fathers not take responsibility for children they produce?
I think they would be disappointed in many things, but least of all would be the government or our political process.

Hell No! reason being .... The American Revolution was fought to break away from the British Empire by extending their world wide land grab (just like Spain and France). The Brits were imposing their law on the colonies with unjustified cause (example: Taxation without Representation). So what are we seeing in our leadership now... the same B***S*** that ignited the American Revolution!
Just look at services we pay for now that were free 10-20 years ago. Greedy men making rules that screw you and I.

I think our founding fathers would be horrified at the traitors we have as senators and so on. But I do think that we are still a democracy, and have proved it to other nations as well. In fact, have even changed other nations to a democracy. Example: Iraq, at least, we're in the process.

No.
I think they argued a lot about loophole and abuse of power. The supreme court was to oversee all, congress start all, and president ran the military. Checks and balances.
I think we really disappoint and dishonor all the founding fathers and war dead who sacrificed so much for our country. Not enough bother to even vote, much less participate.

Good heavens... the forefathers would turn over in their graves if they saw this country now.
When you read some of the writings from our forefathers, many were not even Christian but diests.... they didn't want the ppl to become dependent on the government to survive. Republicans confuse that with social programs which is not what they were referring to.
The forefathers made things like 'freedom of passage' in order for us to be really FREE... we were suppose to be able to live off our land and never pay taxes if we chose to live a recluse lifestyle.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this was made impossible. Corporations wanted to force the ppl living free to move to the cities to work for them so they lobbied congress to pass tax laws. This was forever a change in our history because it worked. My greatgrandfather was one of them that is how I know this so well. He was a lumberjack and when he couldn't pay his property tax on over 200 acres of land, he moved to the city to word in a factory.
Anyways, I am going off track. Back to your question.
With rigged elections, 800+ executive orders by Bush that bypass congress and losing our freedoms daily, I am sure this is NOT what they had in mind.
