I would try writing it out it always helps me when I want to remember something. You should also try having a certain place to put things, and make sure to clean up. It's hard to find things in clutter. Trust me I know.

I finally bought a large plastic box with a lid, when I see things on sale I put them in my box, then when I need a cute little gift I know right where to go, I used to loose things like crazy too, and I keep this box in my closet

I always keep important things in my purse, that way they are right there. When i get home from work, i just put my keys and cell phone in my purse so I'm not scrambling in the morning trying to find that stuff before im off to work again.
