I went to an auction and watched a guy buy one for $4,900, I was just wondering what kind of profit he made. I'm not even sure what type of Studebaker it was, but at one time it was used as an ambulance.

Dear J,

Just a guess, but the people at auctions are pretty knowledgeable most of the time. Therefore, $4,900 is a good guesstimate for the value.

As for Studebaker, it was a car made in South Bend, Indiana until the 1970s, when it went broke. Because so many people lost their pensions when it happened, it was the major drive behind the government's creation of pension regulations.

One of your best bets is to go to the library and see if they have a copy of Hemmings Motors News - which lists old and antique cars for sale and check to see what Studebakers are selling for. You also may check e-bay and see if any are listed. There are Studebaker collector groups, you should try Google. Another price reference is Old Car Collector News. Good luck.

All I have discovered that a cylider of Pepsi cola somehow is associated to the Studbaker car emblem by a malaysian food enterprize.

Price versus value all depends on condition and origionality, not to mention nostalgia. It's worth what a collector is willing to pay.

If it was better than new, that was a fair price. You can't get your money back from this car. You should only buy what you love.
