I sorry but just how did Of Mice and Men end positively?

George was forced to shoot his closest friend, Lenny. Regardless of the circumstances or the series of events that led up to Georges decision to end his friends life, Of Mice and Men ended on a very sad note. So what if the killing was done for humane reasons, furthermore Lenny didn't even have a say in the matter. All this story does is reinforce the idea that people with handicap are a burden in some way. That is not what I call a positive note.

Ask yourself if George himself would be happy with this resolution.

Yes it ended positively for both George and Lenny. George did what was best for Lenny because Curly and the group of men that were going after Lenny would have done alot worse to him than shot him in the head.

Hmm... positively.... I've gotta say yes. George saved Lenny's life by ending it- does that make sense?? George helped Lenny in the only way he knew how. Lenny was killed by the one he was loved by. George saved him the emotional pain of being killed by the law. But, in my opinon, George and Lenny should have ran for their lives. Sure, they MIGHT have been caught, but I thought that George should have had the courage to save Lenny's life in a different way. What do you think??

Realistically...yes. And heartbreakingly so. The act of mercy is a powerful thing...and something absent frommost testosterone-charged fiction of today. I believe this was the first 'classic' to bring tears to my eyes that I can recall.
Peace.
