Smell your exhaust to see if it smells like anti-freeze
It could be a head gasket..

Sounds like blown head gasket. The coolant is leaking into the cylinders and passing through the engine. Check the oil and see if there is any green liquid in it. If so you blew a head gasket.

If it is overheating the thermostat is sticking shut and the coolant will go to reserve tank and over flow.. Could be a blown head gasket. smell exhaust. I don't have enough info to truly diagnose the cause as how much it looses, is engine missing? etc.

See if there is a recall on it? My daughter had a sunfire but I can not remember what year but I think a 98. There was a recall which she did not take to get fixed and the inside caught on fire and melted everything in side. The fire department had to put it out.

She got her money from the car manufacture and my son always talks about his sisters "BON FIRE"

Good Luck

Park it on a level surface, leave it running for ten or fifteen minutes, then look and see where the leak is. Pop the hood, and you should see it leaking from that point.

Maybe Flava Flav is stealing your coolant and making cool green clocks to hang around his neck with it. Or maybe it is going out of your tailpipe because you have a cracked head, blown head gasket, cracked cylinder wall, or a warped cylinder head. Have a mechanic check your cylinder pressures.

If you see no leaks, if it is a 2.2L, probably head gasket. If it is a 2.4L, it could be the water pump that is behind the timing cover. Good luck!
