No, nor can you castle across a space that would put your king in check.

There are 3 things you can do to get out of check:
1) move your king (but no castling)
2) move a piece between your king and the attacking piece
3) capture the attacking piece

Once you're out of check, and you haven't moved your king yet, THEN you can castle.

Never

King can only castle if:
1) He has not moved before and the other castle has not moved.
2) He is not in check
3) The move does not pass through any attacking square or put the king in an attacked square.

No, you can't castle out of check, nor can you castle your king through a square where he'd be in check. The one part that even some grandmasters forget, though, is that you can castle if your rook is attacked or moving through an attacked square.

Robert L's answer is faulty. everybody else were given it correct. certain. so long because the King has not moved, it really is eligible to citadel. for sure, there are guidelines as to once you may citadel: a million) Neither the King nor the meant Rook shall have moved previous to castling. 2) The King can not citadel even as IN examine. 3) The King can not citadel if any of the squares over which he might want to bypass are lower than enemy attack (i.e. won't be able to citadel "by" examine). 4) The King can not citadel INTO examine (ie. he won't be able to land on a sq. it really is attacked by employing an enemy piece). If one Rook strikes previous to castling, you won't be able to citadel with THAT rook, yet you'll citadel with the different rook, offered IT hasn't moved yet. Castling is unlawful if the King or meant castling Rook has moved previous for your reason to citadel, regardless of in the experience that they finally bypass again to their unique squares. shifting your King previous to castling is the in basic terms unmarried bypass which will completely get rid of all destiny castling privileges for that sport. shifting a rook eliminates castling privileges for that rook in basic terms.

No. A king cannot castle out of check.
