If there was a chance of removing all problems from football, even if it meant starting football from stratch, would you do it?

What I mean is are you unhappy with the off the pitch antics (i.e. takeovers, dodgy dealings (e.g. Tevz and Mascherano), bungs, etc.) and when I say start from scratch, I mean something like a break away league set up by fans for fans, something like that but thanks for your responses so far.

Wow, what a good question, hope you spend a little time reading the answers. his is a subject that people could debate forever. There are so many bad sides to the modrn game - Bungs, Cheats, Corruption, Bad Refs, and i think even too much money. But on the other hand there is so much that is good about the game - History, The great Players, the TV coverage etc.
I dont think starting over would actually benefit anyone, what needs to be done is a few changes to the current laws surrounding the game. Boot out FIFA and replace it with people who have played / managed / coached at a pro level. Forget rule changes that benefit the weeker teams, implement wage capping - does anyone really need £130k a week? and plough some extra money into lower league football. The bosman ruling has had a detrimental effect on football as a whole, but loyalty of players does remain in some cases - Tierry Henry, Steve Gerrard. But greed is still a major influence, look at Ashley Cole!! With just s few changes, the game could once again be great. Limit wages, reduce entrance fees and brig back the terraces, the demise of standing fans has seen every ground in the country lose its tremendous atmosphere. Could go on forever, but wiil leave it there. Thanks for asking such a good question

Football has a lot of history and it would be wrong to wipe that out. However some aspects of the game should certainly be addressed, diving for example. It ruins the game and is unbelievable that in a stadium full of cameras that players would even try it. New rules also disrupt the game and it looks like the game will eventually be a non contact sport. No one wants that.
Today's game is much more exciting than ever. Compare today's great players and the skill they have to those of the past and judge for yourselves.

I wouldn't start over - I love the history that the clubs have, and inter-club rivalry would be much less fun. I think it's a shame there are quite so many foreign players in the Premiership though - although it's great for the standard of play it means that some of our guys also go abroad, and are less likely to get picked to play for England - for example, who has seen a lot of Hargreaves before the World Cup, unless you religiously watch European games? And I would give Chelsea less money...

Well,I remember going to games in the 1890s which had crowds of 110,000.In those days the chauvanistic male had nothing else to do.I propose that we shut down every other form of entertainment and force guys back to the football. Then we should send the Protestants to one school, and the Catholics to another, and let them know from a very young age that they're different.Next we tell them what team to support.I could go on all day.

i would'nt start from scratch i think the 3rd official should be sitting infront of a monitor on the touchline to stop total fuckups theyve got walky talkys on they can solve vital decisions in seconds and cut out the dirty cheating ,but then there wouldnt be any contravercy ?see i woulda liked zezu to get a yellow in the world cup final and then go on to score the winng goal for france how good would that have been.

The behaviour of the players is a reflection of the society they came from.
As long as the fans are prepared to pay inflated prices for tickets and merchandise then the juggernaut will go rolling on.
