hello i am sorry to hear this. My mum had 2 minor strokes and 1 big stroke 5 years ago she is lucky to be alive and she was only in her 40s. She has now some personalities problems she cannot work she is permanently disabled as the strokes have gave her epilepsy. Apart from that she is still normal apart from the odd minor fit every day. strokes are not very nice for the family either I wish you luck and keep your chin up.

I haven't been through anything like you have. But it sounds like you are a bit lonely and still grieving for your sister and for your own illness. You are a strong person to have made it through this far. Take courage in that! I know losing your sister so suddenly is an awful thing, but she'd want you to live the rest of your life to the fullest. I don't have anything to share with you or compare with you but I just wanted to give you a friendly word and a virtual hug.

Take care of yourself and best wishes!

you don't say which area you are from, ask your doctor next time you visit for support groups in your area, also, ask neighbours if they know of any lunchtime venues which are organised in the community to help people like you to socialise with others. Usually these events happen once a week and in community centres, try and find out and I am sure you will soon have like minded people to talk with. You say you worked with mentally ill people, get back in touch with old collegues and see if they can point you in the right direction. good luck.

my dad has had 2 massive strokes and every once in awhile will have small strokes that dont send him to the hospital. its scary for me cause i love my dad. he lost the operation of his left hand. u should be seeing a doctor and be on blood thinner or some type of medication. they need to monitor u and ur medication to make sure it is working right. if u have what some ppl call a "mini stroke" go to ur doctor, and let them know what is going on.
