Hint: The answer is NOT "They want to know how you feel."

That's the only hint I have to offer so, if you don't have anything more substantive to share with us, please save yourself the trouble and move on to another question.

Around here they generally mean "I'm about to say something controversial and unless you agree with me don't bother to answer."

Hint--?? you said they want to know how you feel and then you said not?

So you mean they don't want to know how you (we) feel?

Okay.

If someone asks those types of questions, I just tell them what I think, if I have anything to say. Opinions are good if they are well intended and not too rude.
Not all people on here want to know about computers or books or Mp3 player or how to cheat on video games. That is why there are different categories. So maybe you should choose to answer the other types of questions?

I'm guessing that the significance of that is the poster is comparing their feelings with others.... maybe looking for an answer, opinion or just validation for feeling the way they do.

As a teacher, I can say that a "How do you feel...?" question legitimately is an open-ended question looking for the responder's opinion. However, I have noticed in Yahoo Answers that "How do you feel...?" secretly means, "How do you feel... and if you don't share my opinion, then you're a %$#@!" :-)

They are either a liberal or a woman. There are differences you know. I can know and understand something completely, but I may not feel very good about it.

Well opinions would be what you think, so feel would have to involve emotions. Anger, remorse, hate, compassion, laughter, fear, etc.
