You need a wireless network adapter installed in your PC (doesn't HAVE to be Netgear brand). Once that is installed it will typically pick up the signal of the wireless router. You can then connect to it. Keep in mind that it could also pick up the signal of other wireless routers in the area and if security has not been enabled on those routers you could connect to them also.

Your PC should get an IP address from the router when you connect to it. Usually those routers have an address of 192.168.1.1 by default. Once you're connected to the router if you type that in your web browser (http://192.168.1.1) you can get into the routers configuration screen and make whatever changes you'd like.

Some wireless router come with a hub so you can connect your PC to it via a CAT5 cable to configure it. Sometimes that is the easiest way to go.

The routers usually come with instructions and a CD for people that don't know what they are doing. If it's new you can also call them for support.
