computer help please?

my keyboard wasn't working, so i unplugged it and tried to plug in a new one, but the new one plugs into the USB port. i tried to plug it in, but it was upside down so it wouldnt go in and then the computer just shuts off and i can't turn it back on. any ideas on what happened? please. help would really be appreciated.

we got a new computer, but i want to know if i can get the files that were saved on it back

use USB port for plugging your new key board or otherwise use simple keyboard without USB. plug it and then re start your computer.
