This could be harmless. OR it could shorten their lives significantly to the point where they won't be able to watch their kids grow up. The NFL does not test for HGH because it is almost impossible to get accurate results and the tests are quite expensive. I am not even promoting that the NFL should even try to test for it. Professional bodybuilding gave up on testing a long time ago because the human growth hormone tests could easily be beat. But some doctors have claimed that HGH could cause severe liver damage. There also might be a link to cancer. That is a pretty big gamble. Don't you think. I guess the question one would have to ask them is, "Are ya feelin lucky?"

At that age (20ish) many young men feel invincible, especially at that level - meaning that they are playing for a college or University that would give them an opportunity to play in the NFL - and given the choice of fame and fortune, "selling their souls" is a decision that they are presented with, take it and make it, or be left behind... make millions and die by 35 or work hard to possibly be "poor" (still could die by 35 anyway) and live to 65 struggling...

Same question could have been ask about steroids 20 years ago. There wasn't any studies at the time to track long tern effects of steroids back then. HGH is a relative new fad amoung pro athletes of all kinds. Long term effects probably will not be known for another 10 years or so. Also as of today there are no real tests for athletes using HGH so you will get many that will try it. There are some legitimate benefits to HGH as far as helping to heal injuries

Saying that most nfl players use hgh is as stupid as people saying that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancers. There's no evidence to support either claim. Too many people believe rumors just because the media reports them. It's not fair to say that most ( or any for that matter) nfl players use hgh until a reliable test is put into use by the nfl.

They use it because they think it will give them an edge. If they think that cheating is a form of being better, then that is their problem. I just wish people would try to be fair.
