Could you tell me more about the places, why would you like to visit these places and what would you like to do/see there, please? Thank you! :)

How would you go there, from where you are?

And, once there, would you prefer to travel around by car, train, bike, horse...;) What?

Well, Moon, it's difficult for me to narrow it down to just one place. I quite literally want to see the world! I absolutely love travel! I love what it does for me and my perspective on life. I love seeing exotic places and sampling things I'd never find anywhere else. I love meeting people I might never know if I simply stayed put. I love seeing flora and fauna unlike anything I've encountered back home. I love the "foreign" sights and sounds and tastes and smells. There is nothing like travel. How could there be?

Right then, the travel experience of my dreams would begin close to home and gradually expand to encompass the globe. I definitely want to travel the length and breadth of fair Canada, from the Maritimes to British Columbia, and I want to do it by rail. I also want to head north to Alaska and even venture into the Arctic Circle. I just can't wait to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)! Yes, I know it can be seen from other vantage points but I want to see it in Alaska because that's where I've always imagined seeing that amazing display for the first time -- and I shall! :)

Okay, now I'm ready to cross the Pacific and head south again. First stop, Hawaii, for a wee breather in paradise. Then a stopover in Japan. Yes, I know I've lived there but that's actually the point. I want to look up some old friends and get very drunk in a Japanese pub (lol), ideally in Kyoto, though most of my friends there are in Mito where I taught English. Screw it, we'll meet up in Mito and hop on the bullet train as a traveling party to Kyoto! And this time I'll get into the royal palace, damn it! ;)

Right-o, now it's down to Australia, and I really want to try to visit every state and territory. I want to see it all, mate, it's settled. I also want to see the Great Barrier Reef, up close and personal -- before it disappears entirely (no joke). Next stop, New Zealand, a place I have the strangest feeling I may one day call home. (Don't ask me to explain; it's just a feeling I have deep down inside.) I'm reasonably sure I'll prefer the North Island to the South but I jolly well intend to see it all!

The next destination on my travel itinerary is the Indian subcontinent. I've always been fascinated with India and would love to see the world's largest democracy firsthand. I would then follow with a visit to China (though I'm really hoping when that day comes, official state communism and oppression will be a bad memory). I simply have to see the Great Wall and walk a few miles of it. It's a must! If the people are finally free, I also want to visit Tibet, as well. Nepal might be cool, too... And then I'm off to Africa!

I'll start in the south, Capetown or Johannesburg, and work my way up the continent. Sure, I'll endeavour to avoid the trouble spots, but otherwise take it all in, because there's nowhere else like it on earth. I want to be on the Serengeti plain and see and feel it teeming with wildlife. I want to walk in the tropical rain forests of Cameroon. I want to sail up the Nile. I want it all, baby! Egypt will be my last stop in North Africa, and then I'll hit Asia Minor and drop in on Israel. I'd love nothing better than to find peace there, for everyone, but most especially the long-suffering Jewish people... but I'm a realist and I honestly don't know that I will see this happen in my lifetime, alas.

Okay, now we're going to cross the Mediterranean, stopping along the way in Greece, Italy, France and Spain (we'll be heading back to Europe, no worries) before sailing/jetting off from Lisbon, Portugal to visit South America. I have a very dear friend in Brazil I simply must look in on (*wink*) and I would otherwise like to visit each nation on the continent. The Andes, the Amazon, the Orinoco, the Galapagos Islands, even Easter Island... it's a whole different world from the continent to the north which I know so well. I'd likely continue up through Central America and into Mexico and then, perhaps, a brief respite Stateside.

Then it's off to Europe for the last leg of this grand tour and I'm taking her slow... very slow. I am stopping over in every country, mind, every single one. From the Mediterranean to the Baltic to the North Sea, I'm seeing ALL of Europe and I'm spending quality time there (read years). Highlights? Well, in Italy, it's going to be Tuscany. In France, it's Paris, of course, but Normandy and Brittany and some downtime in Provence. In Spain, it's Barcelona all the way. And then I want to see the great cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Zürich, Geneva, Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki and many more. I'll swing over to the Baltic states and spend some quality time in Mother Russia (home of many of my literary heroes) and then head right on up to Finland. Then across Scandinavia and down to the Low Countries (aka Benelux). I'm thinking I'll like the Netherlands and Belgium quite a lot as I've the glowing testimonials of friends, especially concerning the former. And then... and then I'm Home!

The British Isles beckon me, as they so often have done throughout my life. My first love has ever been England, with its pastures green. London, THE world class city and Liverpool, birthplace of The Beatles as well as me Dad. And then comes Wales. Oh how I fell hard for those massive medieval castles and beautiful rolling green hills. I vividly recall walking through a misty, fog-shrouded passage inside Harlech Castle at the tender age of 14 and knowing -- not feeling, KNOWING -- that I'd walked those ancient stones before, long ago, in another age, the Age of Chivalry! And my heart fairly burst through my chest with a sense of excitement and pride. A Knight to be sure. I never doubted it, and certainly never shall after that epiphany...

My next enduring love was Scotland the Brave! I've been there but twice, most of my time spent in the Highlands and the Trossachs, and I have not yet even scratched the surface of that hallowed place. A ferry across the Irish Sea will then bring me to Ireland, which I've yet to visit, and I intend to take in both the North and the Republic. I imagine I would then recross to Liverpool and spend an extended period there in the birthplace of my father. And finally, I would return to my family's roots in the beautiful Lake District of Northwestern England (I've only been there but once and that was many years ago). I would delve into the family genealogy that my uncle has begun but left incomplete and make that my life work, tracking down my ancestors and completing my family tree.

And the best part of all of this world travel is that I would not be journeying alone. I would be accompanied by my Ladylove, without whom I would accomplish none of this elusive dream of mine. I shall share every precious moment with her and together we shall make happy memories that will carry us through the rest of our days. Your devoted Knight loves you dearly, m'lady, and I cannot wait for our journey to begin! :)

I would love to sail around the world on one of those luxury cruises where you have a long balcony outside your cabin, stop at all the major cities and see the sites (Italy for art, architecture, food, marble, museums, country; Cape Town, Africa for the Dutch setters and wildlife and beaches; India for the Taj Majal; etc.) I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thanks for asking this question. I dreamed for a little there.

I'd go travelling around the streets of Brazil looking for you on my mobike.

Seriously now, I'd love to travel through the ancient cities of Rome and Greece on foot.

I'd love to ride my bike around the dusty Pyramids of Egypt.

I'd love to drive in a car around the Himalayan hills.

I'd love to go bicycling in China and Japan's busy streets.

I'd love to go through the fast-moving highways of America in a Panoz Roadster.

The travel of my dreams would be to travel the world for two years going place to place making friends, learning cultural dances and learning how to many cultural/tradition dress.

I completed one dream by going to livin and work in Japan. I was in a small fishing village in Wakayama and I delved into everything. I was well received by the community and got to know the area quite well. That was my dream come true and I was able to travel to many other countries cheaper than if I had flown back and forth from the US each time.
