Fabulous question!!!
I'm worried about that....w/ my 9-yr. old son. I don't want him to be made fun of, so last year I started reading "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus" to him...
I am sure he knows that all that stuff is a bunch of hooey by now....but I want to make sure he has something to replace those "myths" with, so that he isn't totally disillusioned by life! LOL!!

I look forward to reading the replies you get from this. :-)

I didn't

for reference to the existence of Santa Clause - look up the buddhist monk Hoi Toi

for references to the easter bunny look at the Ukranian eggs and pagan symbols of fertility... (the christmas tree is wiccan but Halloween is actually Christian - did you know that?)

The tooth fairy I've never been sure about though...

There are theorists that believe that dragon lore stems from a time when there might have still been some dinosaurs alive at the same time as people... who knows?

The point is - the more you learn about folk customs, the more fascinating they become throughout adulthood.

I didn't believe in the Easter bunny or tooth fairy at the age of about 5, I just decided that I didn't believe in them, I still believed in Santa though. Then When I was 7-8 my older sis told me that santa didn't exist.

I don't think that there was any specific moment that I suddenly stopped believing in every childhood myth. I believe it was probably a gradual process starting around the age of four and probably ending around six or seven.
