this is not meant to be a joke for i take the subject seriously what im looking for is its meaning to most people and how they perceive the question and how they answer accordingly

i guess they're both the first part or opening of a new passage. interesting question. so then the difference would be that you could return by the doorknob to the previous place you had been, but not so with death.

I have heard it said the person was as dead as a doorknob. A doorknob is useful, but I wouldn't think a dead person would be of much use.

Death of a human is just a part of the journey. When our life here is ended, we are then rewarded or punished for our deeds for eternity. If we are a doorknob, once our usefulness has ended, unless we are recyclable, we are done, trash, kaput.
