Yes! All you have to do is go in on settings and find the dropdown that has delete account.

In most cases If you don't use your account for a while it will be automatically disabled hence closed. But the best instant way to make sure it is deleted email suport@yahoo.com ofcourse before you delete it. Why can't you keep it, i think yahoo is the best service in terms of email accounts compared to others-on my point of view.
