You have to have the connection cable that hooks from your psp to any usb hookup on your computer. They sell it at wall-mart. Once you got it hooked up, turn on your psp and select usb connection from the psp menu, your computer should detect it and when it does go to my computer and you'll see a new drive, mine was labeled "F" open it up and transfer mp3's from your computer to the folder labeled music. you must have a memory stick to do all this, they sell those at wall-mart also.

Connect it to the Computer via a usb cable (The necessary cable has a mini-USB to a USB. This cable is commonly used in digital camera connections; if you have one already there is no need to buy one). After it's plugged in, go on your PSP menu to settings and then select USB connection. After it's connected, (on your computer) open up a the folder for the drive that your Memory Stick Duo is on...probably a removable disk. From there, open the folder "PSP" and Create A folder titled "MUSIC" (without quotation marks, but still all capitalized.) Save any songs you want (.mp3 format) into the folder than disconnect your PSP by selecting disconnect on the PSP connection screen. Now disconnect the cable. The songs will now be saved on the PSP and can be played from the music menu.

If you have a memory card reader, you can plug in your Memory Stick Duo into the slot of MS Duo or MS Pro Duo (MS or MS Pro do not work; Duo must be in the title). From there you follow the steps, starting with finding the removable disk. After the files are in the "MUSIC" folder, find "safely remove hardware" in the toolbar and remove the device by selecting the drive it is on.
