There are a couple of possibilities here. The key has been in there a long time, and hasn't been pulled out SO if you spray WD-40 down the key into the lock, that may lube the key enough to break the grip that the lock has on it. Give it ten minutes, that should be enough time.Over time, the lock could have a slight buildup of smoke, food cooking smoke and grease etc, and spraying will desolve that. Then, give the key a sharp rap with a light wooden handle of something - not too hard, just a sharp rap. That could cause the key to become free in the cylinder. If that doesn't work, try to remove the cylinder from the door. All you need for that is a philips screwdriver. There is a chance that the key was in the wrong position when it was replaced on the door the last time it was worked on. That would mechanically hold the key in place, and must be changed anyway. IF that is the case, just experiment with the key once it is off the door, the cylinder will give up the key... if not, then take the complete lock around to a locksmith for him to look at it for you. DON'T use graphite: it will make a worse mess Just a small point: After reading other comments here, I notice some disparaging remarks about Double-Cylinder deadbolt usage in residences. IMost folks who use those locks, leave a key in them all the time that they are in the house, but when they are away from the house, work, vacation... they remove the key on departure so that the double cylinder now becomes a good bolt that cannot be opened by some yeg breaking the glass and reaching inside to undo the latch. That is their purpose. Some manufacturers even make a key for them with a thumb-turn on the other end instead of a bow.

First make sure you turn it so that you have it lined up the way it should be when you normally put the key in and then jiggle it up and down while you try to ease it out. If the key is turned in the lock it will not come out because the mechanisim is designed that way (same as you can't remove a car key out of the ignition when the car is running)
