I am looking for people's thought processes. I'm trying to teach my kids to reserve their resources.

I am always on a very strict budget (trying to save for a house) so I don't overspend. For starters, I never use credit cards. If I don't have the money for it in the bank, then I obviously can't get it. I think credit cards make it way too easy for people to spend a lot. I paid all mine off and never looked back. It was just stupid to worry about having to pay off stuff I bought 2 years ago. Beside I don't believe in getting people big expensive gifts like ipods and such. I don't think ipods really show a person how much you love them.

I think spending money is not a big deal on Christmas. The main part about it is family and love. I like to make my gifts, and there isn't much money involved. Of course, plan ahead and make sure you keep within your budget if you're going to buy something. Hope this helps!!:)

i don't over spend because i don't use credit cards i start early and buy presents through the year i always plan on what to spend on each person an i won't let myself go over that amount . but i guess people over spend at christmas because they want everyone to have a great present which usually gets taken back to teh store the day after .

we tend to forget the real meaning of christmas. christmas should cost nothing. celebrate it by going to church and spending time with the family.

I never overspend. I am rich, and can buy anything I want for anyone I want.
