lets say i put 40 songs on my ipod and then later i buy songs and it dowloads them to my ipod does it download the old song again because its in the library HELp

no it doesn't. It just updates your i-pod to match your current library. I changed mine to not update automatically because I do not want everything in my library to be on my i-pod

Be a little more specific, do you mean, If I already have this one song, and I go buy the same song for some unknown reason, will it replace the one I already have(The same song with the same title and such)? Is that what you meant, then Yes, I doubt it might, it'll ask you do you want to override the song.

yea...you'll have songs twice. you just have to manually delete them from your library
