Yes! it's safe. but i would a all cotton item. Polyester may not grab the paint pretty good!!

Perfectly safe, just make sure you buy the right type of dye. It will tell you on the packaging if it is suitable for 100% polyester.

Yes, but if you use cold dye the colour will not take, and if you use the hot dye the colour will run when you wash it. Ergo, best to nip down to Primark and get yourself another of correct hue.
