I want a Myspace to keep up with friends I hardly ever talk to or see and my dad won't let me have one! I told him that you can block everyone else out except your friends and that they have to ask to be your friend first. But he still won't let me have one!! I'm 15 and I think that I should be able to have one and that it's safe. I'm tried of getting asked ,by all my friends who have them, why I don't have one. I have to tell them my dad won't let me and they think it's retarded. And when I say that it makes me feel like I'm 5 and can't make my own decisions! Is there anyway I can get my dad to undersatnd why I want one and get him to let me have one? It's like having him stand beside me and watch my everymove on the blasted computer! My AIM convorsations are saved so he can read them, every website I go to is logged and he an print them out and ask me about them! I know what to do and what not to do on the internet and he is treating me like I don't! HELP ME!!!!

I did tell him about all the safty precautions I would take, but he still doesn't want me to have one! Also I do have a yahoo 360 but none of my friends have one and they think they are stupid. I do have AIM and all that but I want a myspace so I can talk to people I don't know screen names or phone numbers to! I tried to sneak a Xanga be4 and he caught me and blocked the sites! Plus anything that shows up as a flag to him he reads! So he doesn't read EVERYTHING but close enough!

What would you expect after things he might hear on the news and about that girl going to Israel! Just try to find another alternative like Yahoo 360, Xanga, or just use the phone

He probably has his own reasons for not letting you have a Myspace, such as security reasons, but seriously, if you only let your friends look at it, there's nothing bad about it. You can tell him that you're not going to post anything that may make you identifiable, such as your real name and address; there's proof of your obedience if everything you do is being monitored. For example, if you comment on how you believe a certain fashion item looks strange, or if a politician hasn't lived up to what they said, you would still appear to be any other Internet user.
The part about having all of your AIM conversations saved and the websites you visit logged: Does he really have that much time to look at everything you do?

Ok your dad is too controlling. However maybe you could ask him if he will at least check out myspace and see what it's about and you show him how he can prevent others from getting to your site. Then explain to him again what it is you want it for. That myspace is actually geared more towards teenagers.( Hint the "glitter graphics")

I like your name I dance and I'm also full Italian. I'm 15 too and I have asked my dad for a my space. But I see your point. And if I were you I would keep begging your dad and see what he does. But if you get introble for begging than act sweet and than about a week later ask for somehting that is somewhat like a my space. It worked for me!

go to a library where they have computer or your friend house and get my space account and use the computer in the library or where your dad cant see what you are doing
