that is not entirely true, years ago kids faced different problems. The cell phones should not be allowed in classes. When I attended school years ago it was hard enough for a teacher to get kids to pay attention all the time, they use to pass notes. Now they can interrupt 5 classes by text messaging 5 friends in 5 different classes. Some leave their phones on. Now some children are completely ignoring authority and making it very difficult for teachers to do their jobs. Computers (Internet) is the same thing, years ago parents could have some idea when their children were communicating with other people via the phone. You could have an idea of the age of the person when answering the phone, now with the Internet if you do not monitor it, you do not know who, how old, or even the fact that they are talking to someone. We live in a different times, there are different problems and some issues can be deadly. Look at the news kids kill kids the world is out of control that is what the problem is. Family values have been replaced with TV, phone, computers (Internet). It is not easy to be a child in these times....because it is not that you do not trust your children it is the other people out their. One most try to find the medium, open communication with your children is part of the answer.

Have you opened your eyes to the way kids are acting these days? My sister's boyfriend has two kids an an ex-wife.. during her boyfriend and his ex wife's custody battle over the kids his 13 yr old son acted like he ran the household because he knew that if his dad didn't play by his rules he could play up the sympathy card. Kids are having sex at younger ages, parents are not disciplining kids the way the used to so they are getting more wild, and generation by generation the morality of people are disintegrating. It's ridiculous. I think it's great how much media is starting to take control.. with all the shows that are out there and all the crap that's on the internet.. man, I'm glad my parents had rules and limits because I know that when I was younger I pushed the envelope to it's fullest. Good for you for not being like that.. but I know that most kids who are in their preteens love to do whatever they can get away with.

my child has a computer and a cell phone . this is not because I don't trust him it is because I don't trust the worlds he lives in . Collanbine taught us that our kids are not safe at school, Oklahoma City and 9/11 taught us they aren't safe in America. This is the only way that i can work and let my son have freedom. I know that if he needs me he can call or Email

Kids are exposed to more now than 10, 20 and 30 years ago. The predators have more access to kids these days than ever before.
Parents who control the phones, computer, TV are only doing what they can to protect their kids. Still, it isn't enough because somehow, those predators stillget in sometimes....

Times are different now. It is not the kids they dont trust, just who is around them. There are some crazy people out there and they get thru to innocent children with the computer and even phones.

This day and age, with technology comes people who will take advantage of the trusting souls out there, ie: kids!!! Someone has to protect kids from the bad stuff and bad peoplle who don't care. Would you want some 50 yr old man talking to your 13 yr old while she is on her computer? I think not, so someone has to set up precautions, don't you think????

The reality is that kids are not safe from the lunatics and morally corrupt who misuse modern technology....parents have a responsibility(a legal one mind)to protect their children from abusers and preditors...you oughta thank them for their expression of love and care for you.
