Could you tell me sth about the real historical events that made John Stienbeck write his (The Grabes of wrath)?
I need someone to tell me about this period in north America in the thirties.
It was about migrant work camps in centeral California......need more detailed information PLEASE, net resourses if possible.THANK YOU

Steinbeck's novel highlighted the plight of refugees from the "Dust Bowl" in the American southwest during the 1930's.

It was really a double hit--there had been severe drought in this area in the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma, then came the Great Depression. Many people in those states lost family farms and had to take to the road, hoping to find work. Often whole families had to do this, since there wasn't even an old homestead to stay on after foreclosure when folks simply couldn't pay the mortgage.

The book is a depiction of life in the 30's during the depression.Specificaly the movement of Oklahoma natives to Cal.and the plight they faced.Read the book.The details are there!!
