Flies are dumb and once they fly through an open door or window they can never find their way out!
Kim & Aggie tip to rid house of flies ...pour cider or white wine vinegar into a jar, (anything but MALT vinegar - which doesn't work) add three or four drops of washing up liquid, cover jar with cling film, punch several holes in film and place jar within infested room. Flies think these types of vinegar smell like rotting stuff and will crawl through the holes and land on the liquid to drink it up. Washing up liquid destroys the surface tension and the flies will sink in and drown...what you do with your jar full of pickled flies they never said!

Flies get into the house because the door to the house, or windows are left open even for a minute or less.. they get in.. lay their eggs and more flies.. They(flies) are attracted, of course, by sugar, and other food items... even a counter top that is not entirely clean...
They are easily controlled if the windows and doors are not opened for other than going in and out.

I'm sorry to say this but it's probably you.
The common fly is attracted to the smells of the human body, methane and the warmth of a house, they'll go pretty much anywhere they think they can eat and lay eggs.

It could be something really simple like the door is sometimes open when your not looking a fly will pop in? And we get flys too and I think that the food that is in the garbage is attracting them!

Food and smells.
If you smear the outside of your house with sh*t, they won't come inside -- I've not tried this, just a theory!

the smell of food attracts them. Do you have fruit sitting out?
They carry jerms and larvae...so be sure to keep them outdoors.
