I would talk to the staff at your school, to see if they'd all pitch in and get him one of those "Fold-down" desks.. I have one, and their ony about $20.00.. He's got to be staying in a shelter, of some sort.. And there,at the shelter,he can do his homework, with his new, little desk.. Or you could get him one of those half oval shaped wooden writing boards.. they have hand-holes built-in, on the ends.. and they cant be more than $10.00.. He can even fit his book his binder and paper on it, all in their own spots, thats how wide around the waist they fit.. Just check with Staples, or these office Max, places, for desk tops types of items.. Good-Luck, and pray for him and his family... Its so sad to see kids go through "hard-luck" situations.. Breaks my heart.. I send my tithes, to "feed he Children" in America, now.. Instead of my church, I know God wouldn't be mad at me, for helping others rather, than giving to a church, that already has enough money, to make an even "Bigger-church" soon.......And my heart feels better knowing somewhere, someone, isn't going to bed "Hungry".. Because, of my check, each month... People need to fix America, our own people, before they go and try to fix, other countries problems... There's more, hungry & homeless, right here in America, then most Americans realize.. And if everyone did just one act of "Kindness" for these who are less fortunate, thier heart would feel so good, and someone would be so blessed, and they'd probably never forget your act of Kindness.. even, if its just going around the "Homeless" area's and pass out some of your old blankets, that have been sitting in your garage, for ever, or all those can foods, that you know you'll never get around to ever eating.. Or some extra toothpaste, or deordorant.. Or even buy them a gift-card, to go and buy their own camping materials, or some new clothes, so they can look for work, or food, for theirselves, of their families... It just takes one kind act, to spread others to do the same.. The public would see you doing this, and want to do it too... Its contagious, believe me.. I have given my lunch to a woman before, who asked me for some change to buy a hamburger, because she was hungry.. She looked so starved, and she devoured that sandwich of mine, so fast.. But, my heart felt so good for doing this act of kindness.. I just wish people didn't look past those homeless.... instead look into their eyes, and see.. they need us, to help them.. They once had a life too, and no one knows where they've come from, or where they used to work, or anything except they look dirty to them so they wont give them the time of day.. Their "Human" just like you & me, and they want to get off of the streets, trust me!!! I know this because I used to have a family member, who was "Homeless" and I to this day, have always said, that if I ever won the Lottery, I would first tithe, 10% to my church, and 20%, to feed the children.... Then I would open up a "Homeless-Shelter" that gave bag lunches, for lunch, and before dinner, they would have to go to church, right their in the same building, and then eat a "Hot-Meal" and for those who were families, I would put them in bungalow's with single-beds, and they'd have 3 months to get work and open a savings account, and then another 6 months to buy a new car, for their families, and then save to get into an apt, or a house.. I'd drug test them, and anyone who didn't follow the rules, would have to leave.. But those who did, I would do anything for them!! We need more places, in our country for those who hit a rock in the road of thier life, who cant find their way back, you know.. Their all people, just like us, they just went through some rough roads, is all......

Helping Homeless Children

While schools can't solve homelessness, there are steps they can take to alleviate its effects on children. Here are some suggestions:

Get help from people "in the know." Working with shelter directors, McKinney-Vento district liaisons, and Title I staff is a practical way to help prevent families from falling through the cracks.

I would still give it to them because it allows them to feel like they are still apart of the class and that you are not showing them pity. I would also think that if they have something constructive to do then it does take their mind off of their situation.
