I got the evenflo vangaurd. It was under $100 and looks very comfy. It has to still be rear-facing until he is one or 20 pounds so make sure it can go both ways no matter which brand you go with.

I tried the cosco Sienna, but I got so frustrated with the fact that the straps twisted and I could not secure my child in tightly that I got rid of it. I fianally bit the bullet and bought an Britax Roundabout. I LOVE this seat. It is very easy to use, and it fits nicely into my small Honda Civc (Rear Facing) and I still have room for someone to sit in the front seat. I did not like the fact that this seat cost me $200, but after my experience with the cheaper cosco I decided it was worth it. My child seems to comfortable in this seat (the only draw back is that it didn't come with seat belt covers for the area around her neck. I felt that as expensive as it was this should have been standard. I bought some for $7 at toys r us. I would look at the Roundabout, and do a side by side comparison to some other brands that are similar. I like this carseat. Maybe you could find one that has the same features for a better price. I was a little upset about how much I paid for this seat, but the longer I have it, the more I am happy that I did go ahead a purchase it. It is just very easy to use.

I purchased the Alpha Sport convertible car seat .
its for kids weighing 5lbs to 80 lbs.
Its awesome and I never have to puchase a car seat or even a booster seat as it can be used till the kid is 8yrs or 80 lbs.
Definately check it out.
I bought it from Babies R Us.

The best solution if you live in our area to go to the nearest fire department. They do seminars multiple times every year about how to properly select, fit and use car seats. They have multiple types to show you. The service is free.

Go to any Walmart or Target store .. or Babies R' Us. They will have what you need. You can also go to Amazon.com and read up on what they have for sale in this category. Also, you can use yahoo or google.com to research car seats for a baby that size and age. Good Luck ! :)
