If my girlfriend gets sick (cold/flu) - starts to feel better but I catch the same cold/flu and see her while she is recovering and I am getting sick - can she get sick again? Or will she have anti-bodies or something that will prohibit it from happening again?

no...not if it's the common cold you can't catch the same one twice...your body builds anitbodies to protect yourself from that disease attacking you ever again...its like the flu....every year we need a different shot because the virus is different...so yes she can still see you and not get sick!

If you're talking about the common cold, then the answer is NO, you cannot catch the same cold twice. There are about a million strains of the common cold and your body develops antibodies for every cold virus that you get.

No. You cannot catch the same cold twice.
Each cold is a virus. Once you're immune system figures out how to build the antibodies for that particular virus, it can fend it off easily and you will not catch that particular cold virus again.

The strep throat example that another poster gave is different, as that's not a virus, but a bacteriological infection.

No you can't, there are over 200 different cold virus's in the world, once you have caught one your immune system reacts to it and protects you from catching it again, so you will never suffer from the same virus twice. Thats why Children suffer from colds more than adults because over the years we adults have suffered more colds and have become immune to them. Hope this helps with any misconceptions you have.

from what i understand you can't catch the same cold twice because your body biulds an immunity to that cold bacteria or flu virus....you can however get sick again from other colds or flu that you come in contact with

Anything is possible and how would you know if it was a different cold unless you have the proper resources to check it. Studies on a few hundred people may have said nope but that excludes the other 7 billion earthlings. Loool never say never wait and see.

Much depends on the resistance level of the body..Low resistance is always going to be susceptible to infective processes. The immune bodies may slow it down but not prevent it.

I've heard both yes and no to this question and I wouldn't even begin to know the right answer. But I'd guess, yes you can.
