You should start taking them right away. If your appointment with your doctor is on the 20th. I don't think a couple of days will really effect the baby that much. My doctor prescribed them to me. But you can also buy them over the counter.

DON'T TAKE THE PRENATAL VITAMIN WITH MILK! It interferes with the iron and zinc absorption of the pill. Also, make sure you drink lots of water to help counteract constipation. The vitamins my doctor prescribe to me has a stool softener in it to try to help prevent constipation. Not sure if the over the counter variety do or not.

I recommend taking the pill in the morning after breakfast with a glass of orange juice. This works best for me. When I try taking it with just water it upsets my stomach and I burp it up all day. When I take it with orange juice this doesn't happen.

Congratulations!

If you mean that your appointment is September 20, then your OB will give you a prescription at your visit.

If you mean it's not until October 20, you have two options: you can call your OB and have them call in a prescription to your local pharmacy or you can pick some over-the-counter prenatal vitamins at pretty much any store (Walmart or Target being better for price).

Good luck.

Start taking them soon as possible. I took a regular multi-vitamin with folic acid and Omega 3. Pills that say Prenatal on them are just more expensive because of the coating so the taste isn't bad.

start taking vitamins now. Your OB would suggest the best ones for you and will prescribe them. Meanwhile, take smth. like Flinstones or others, just make sure they have folic acid, vitamin 0f group B, zink, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium. The dosage of vitamin A shouldn't go above 3000IU, better less than that.

Usually your OB will have a preferred brand. You can call him if you are really worried, but don't stress it. I wasn't able to take any prenatals for the duration of my pregnancy because I was too sick and my kid came out perfectly healthy!

It is recommended that you start taking your prenatal vitamins 3 months BEFORE you get pregnant. Don't worry, just start NOW.

Materna and take them as soon as possible. WalMart has a generic version that's 1/2 the price and has the same amount of everything in it.

you can get them from Wal-Mart..they say prenatal vitamin on them..and then if your doctor wants to switch you to something else he will....but I would get started on those in the mean time...
