everyone with an ounce of brain matter (and even most Republicans have at least that much) knows that Lincoln would have nothing to do with the current incarnation of the GOP?

The party of Lincoln, has become the party of stinkin', he would not recognize what his party has become if he was alive today. They have turned into religious, bigots that does not want to support their country. Besides back in 1860 I am sure that the abolition of slavery was a liberal idea.

Lincoln was the first Republican president. You are right calling the GOP an Incarnation because the 1860s Republicans are very different than todays.
One example is
Old GOP- anti-states rights
New GOP-pro-states rights

It's just one of the many ways they hide their criminal intentions and hated of America from the American people. It's effective mostly on weak-minded conservative Christian white-trash. They are easily manipulated by the immoral scum who run the Republican campaign machine, and getting out their vote (when they are not busy beating their spouses or having sex with their children and family pets) can make all the difference in a close election.
Of course, it is always good to have the Supreme Court in your back pocket so you can overthrow (I mean - overturn) the legally elected government (I mean - the will of the people).

Could you see today's republicans giving up free labor for the corporations by freeing the slaves. But then again the party was called the Democratic Republican party back then.

Because Lincoln freed the slaves. Democrats wanted to keep slavery.

their image is so damaged right now that they are using Lincoln to improve their image...cuz when we hear republican we think evil and when we hear lincoln who was a republican we think of what he did...but he didn't even free the slaves...he had slaves himself!!! he got the ball rolling on it but didn't actually free them
