I don't think they do, the issue is if there is nowhere to go, what are they supposed to do, a lot of young people get kicked out of the house and told not to come home until a certain time.

The police have now instigated what are called "dispersal orders" which means if any young people are congregating in a certain area they can move them on. The problem with this is that they can often be found around places where young people should be hanging around such as outside youth centres or parks.

I think that sometimes the world is against young people, did you not hang out on the streets as a youngster??

Didn't you know? Once you hit 13-14 you adomatically become invincible! They now have the ability to go out WITHOUT their parents. Nobody there to yell at them, no one to get the food crusties off their face, no one to drag them along to all the places they don't want to go... for once in their life, their FREE! They finally get to do what they want to do, and a lot of the time that means the world is theirs. Also it could be due to the fact that their parents didn't teach them the proper way to act in society when they are unsupervised, but that's not true in all cases. If everyone lets them run the streets and towns then they will continue to do so.

teenagers think they own the streets coz nobody stands up to them!! they do as they please where ever they go!! I think that in some places there aren't much for teenagers to do anyway...like in some villages they don't have a cinema or a town centre were they can go and walk around in or even something like a under 18's club where young kids can get together and just be teenagers!! Now because they have nothing else to do. they walk around in the streets looking for something to keep themselves busy with and that's when they start to get up to trouble

Where do you live? This is Not true of all teens everywhere. In some neighborhoods in all cities yes that's true and usaully because there is no one responsible enough to supervise them. A lot of it has to do with how you're raised or not raised. There are good and bad people of all ages. I'm a mom with an 18 year old that would give her life for another (as would most of her friends too). Don't sterotype people please.

Are we talking about the UK here? well i don't think teenagers are doing much wrong, Im 41 now but i was in a gang of kids who used to fool around the streets, these days adults (including me) have become much less tolerant as the adults in my youth.

I'm a teenager and don't think I own the streets or town...I just hang out with my friends shopping, going to the cinema, going to central london, going to the park etc .... which i'm sure you do yourself

Good question!
I was reading and article in www.thisisplymouth.co.uk today called "get out of the car we're going to kill you"!
The story speaks for itself really. 14 to 17 year olds terrorising a neighbourhood and whenthe police were called and the victims pointed out the culprits the police refused to arrest the boys!
They said the situation was too volatile and there were too many of them to do this!
There you go, lack of respect and a distinct lack of action from the boys in blue!

Sorry but i was the same as a youth, we really were bad! i'm not proud of the fact, it's having to make your own entertainment i guess? I think maybe we had a little more respect?

the problem is simply no parental control when i was growing up [44] if you behaved badly the people who saw you tanded your hide [verbally] then took you home and mom busted you but if that is what you needed now if you yell at a kid for making trouble that get in your face like you are the one who's wrong in my place i get them all in line by giving them some thing to do i have base balls gloves foot balls i get then together and we all play until dark it helps if you get involved
