I realize this is a "funny" question, but it is interesting to contemplate the process that led humans to begin using animals like cows and goats for milk. Obviously, because they breastfed their own infants and they observed that calves suckled on their mom's teats, human beings had a pretty good idea what would come out if they squeezed the dangly things. At some point, we decided it made sense to keep certain animals around and use them to produce milk rather than just kill them off for their meat. I'm guessing, just my own idea based on no scientific proof whatsoever, that it was women who had this idea. Did you know that real mozzarella cheese from Italy was made with the milk of water buffaloes? I learned that recently. Who ever thought of milking one of them?

They probably saw a calf feeding off it's mother and figured they could collect whatever was in there to survive, too. Observation is a wonderful thing!
