Are you talking about the drop-down member list at the sign-in window? If so, you have to edit or delete the .plist file. Here's how:
Make note of your connection setting (Yahoo Messenger > Preferences > Connection)
Quit your messenger
find com.yahoo.messenger3.plist (spotlight or finder)
Delete the file, unless you have installed Developer Tools and want to edit it manually.
Restart your messenger
Make sure your connection setting is back to where it was.
If you want, you can also go back and delete your user .plist file (com.yahoo.messenger3.users.[y... screen name].plist . In that file, someone who was curious couldn't see your password, but they could see some other information like your block list and other stuff.

Hi there...the beta version still has many buggy components to work through which may explain why you are unable to delete the user login names. Generally, the only way around this is to delete the application and reinstall. Do a search for Yahoo through Spotlight (blue circle in upper right corner) and delete everything from the list and empty trash before reinstalling.
If you would like to consider an alternative chat application that will work with Yahoo Messenger there's AdiumX http://adiumx.com. It is a multichat application which allows user to chat with Yahoo, MSN, AIM, AOL, Jabber, ICQ, Googlechat and much more.
