Its not appropriate with children. Everyone else is fair game. No wait, not church elders- i wouldn't use it on them either.

I use sarcasm a lot to lighten a situation..or tension, but i think u have to know how to use it, and make sure the other person can take a joke and aren't very easily offended.
sometimes sarcasm is unnecessary.. so be sure that the person knows u enough to know when u are using sarcasm and can then actually laugh about it instead of biting your head off ;)

When you know each other well enough to know when sarcasm is indeed sarcasm. You don't want to risk offending someone or coming off a rude. You may ruin the chance to show the real you.

Basicly, when you do not like that person. 1. if the person is as smart as you will get the message and feel embarased / fight back in the same way; 2. if the person is plain stupid will not realise the sarcatic tone and may feel complimented by it. In that case, the others around can laugh their hearts out and make fun of that person. (100 times more fun!)

not everyone can handle sarcasm even in jest, so i would say its ok if you know the person and they know you other wise the twats will get offended

When the person knows you and knows thats what kind of person you are. Dont use it on just anybody. Some people can get real emotional.
