I'd say anything by Charles Dickens, but he's a little hard to read.
I always have a kind of touch and go experience with him for the first 20 pages or so, until the 19th century English gets settled into my head. Then it's smooth sailing, except for when he goes overboard with one-sentence paragraphs. Fortunatly, that doesn't happen very often!
