Why would you even ask a question like that?
Most companies pay a fee to a third party company for checks over a certain amout to be verified for funds, before the sale is completed. Once verified by that third party company, the loss is upon the third party, not circuit city. It's is sort of insurance for circuit city. The third party will do whatever they have to do to get their money back. THey will probably have you thrown in jail, fined, etc. It probably isn't really worth the hassel you will receive. It is something that will follow you for the rest of your life.

They have you arrested for fraud and theft. Fraud for offering a check as payment then canceling it, theft since you got the things you bought and did not pay.

That is why most do the electronic check like walmart now, the money is taken out of checking the minute it is ran though the machines.

Your bank will charge you for canceling the check. More inportant Circuit City can have you put in jail for writing a bad check (at least in Florida). For that amount of money, if you don't return the merchandise they probably will!

If you make a purchase with the check and then cancel that check you have commited fraud. At $500 that is a felony in most states. I would expect a visit from your local police dept.

After drug offenses most women are in jail for check fraud.

You would get charged a late fee, then you would get charged a fee for the check not going through; and you would still owe the $500.00, which would be billed to you. The worst case scenario is that they could set forth legal actions against you.
