A 35 dollar charge to cancel the check...then another 35 to Circuit City.
If you don't pay...well then Court, then Jail.
They don't play when it comes to Bounced Checks.

Do you mean, "What happens if I buy merchandise from Circuit City, and pay with a check, then deliberately stop payment on the check?"
You get prosecuted for fraud, if Circuit City decides to file charges. Most likely, they'd ask you to come in and pay the money in cash, plus their extra costs involved in having a check bounce, plus the expense of tracking you down, dealing with your criminal act, etc. Procecuting you would be more expensive than all of that. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they did procecute if you didn't pay for the merchandise and for their expenses.
My advice is, don't try it. It would be a much more expensive way to get the merchandise than just writing the check and honoring it.
