the 505 is a great car i have owned three 505 estates and think they are a really versatile car you can carry 8 passengers or fold down the 2 rows of back seats to create a massive load space equal to a transit van. is it a diesel or petrol? these cars are getting rare now but other peugeot models share the same engines also citroen checkout scrapyards for peugeot and citroen cars with the same engine as yours.

Just do an engine transplant. Get a new (relatively new/ later model than you 505) Peugeot engine. There are usually a few things to change and the engine will last longer than a 505 engine. Look for a mechanic who can do this for you. We used to swap a lot of engines where i come from. You may have to do a little bit of fabrication to install engine mountings and you may have to change the bell housing. It is possible and its not very expensive or else buy her another car.
