take it to sears or walmart and they will change the battery for you - if you open it you may damage the indiglow/water resistant-they use something to seal it back

RE:
How do you replace batteries in a Timex watch?
It's a Timex Expedition Indiglo - says on the back it uses a CR 2016 cell.

If it's selfwind, you don't need a battery. If it is battery operated, a jeweler will know what kind of battery you need, by looking at the one that is in it. But, if it's a selfwind, and is not working--a jeweler can tell you whether or not it's worth repairing or just replace it. If it is a selfwind, sometimes holding it in your hand and waving your hand will be enough to get the autowind counter weight mechanism to rotate inside and put tension on the mainspring. If it has a sweep second hand, watch it to see if it begins to move. It may be that the watch is not working because it needs to be wound.

When I replace my Timex watch battery, I snap off the back, take out the old battery and insert the new one. It usually takes only a minute or two.

Remove the back of the watch. The edge of a knife blade might be helpful. Locate the battery. Remove it, and insert the new one. Replace the back of the watch. Set the time. Follow the time setting instructions provided with the watch. Incidentally, the instructions will most likely include information about replacing the battery.
If you are leary of tinkering with the inside of a watch, take the thing to a battery replacement store. Ask the attendant to replace it for you. You are usually charged for the battery only. No fee for removing the old one and replacing it with the new one.

The easiest way would be to take it to a jeweler and they
will replace the battery , otherwise you will have to snap
off the back of the watch and replace the battery that
you purchased at a retailer . Also most shopping malls
have spots where they replace batteries , or go to the
retailer where you bought the watch and often times they
will replace it at a nominal cost.

turn the watch over and get a small screwdriver to try turning the cover off to the left, using any notch that is there... if no notch its possibly just popped in using a rubber washer to seal. if this is the case, again take a small screwdriver(the type for eyeglasses)
and pry up under the cover and pry it off
