I ask on behalf of my daughter (11) who isn't allowed to roam online unsupervised. In her words;
"If you found a little hideous mutant alien child sitting on your doorstep crying, would you take it in and raise it? Would you be nice to it because it was a baby?"
(She sparked my curiosity about answers we might get.)
Please try not to be too mean; she is a kid.

Honestly. I wold probably be scared and shut my door at first. After watching it for a while I would try and make sure that it was safe. I would not take it into my home because let's face it baby or not it's an alien. Who knows what it could be capable of.

I think it's great that you supervise your daughter when she's on the computer..and yes I would take in that little alien.... we should all treat life with respect no matter who they are or what they are..as far as raising it..I raised three boys as a father/coach, they were just like raising hideous mutant alien child ..so yes I think I would take them in and raise them as my very own.. besides I would be first coach with an alien player....

I most certainly would. Take advantage of those who are young because that is when their minds are most open to new knowledge. You can take a devil-baby and raise him to be a Christian and to be good (just like Hellboy), and you can take an angelic baby and raise him to be a cold-blooded killer. So yes, if it is a baby, I don't really think it matters if it's a human or a hideously mutated alien; it's still a baby.

As long as the creature wasn't dangerous (didn't pose a threat to me or anyone else in my house, including my pets), then yes I would take most definitely take care of it, especially if it was clear that the creature needed help.

I don't know that by "taking care of it" that that would necessarily mean I'd take it into my home and let it live with me like one of my family -- perhaps it would mean taking it to a doctor or a zoo or a vet. I'd do whatever I could to make sure it was nurtured. But, if the only option was for me to personally take it into my home and take care of it otherwise it would die, then yes I would take care of it. I wouldn't be able to live with the guilt of not doing something to save its life, and would consider it my moral and ethical obligation to take care of it if it was found on my doorstep.

I would be vary wary rearing alien life form. You don't want to foster an alien that will one day takeover the planet and destroy all humans. But then again a child needs parental love no matter how ugly or alien so as long as it's friendly then it's fine.

I have never thought about that....but knowing myself as I do, I would probably take it home and raise it. It would be hard since I would not know what it liked to eat or know about any diseases it might get. I would hope that it's parents would come looking for it so it could live with it's own kind. I would never turn it over to scientists. They would put it in a cage or dissect it.

well I am unable to have any kids so if I could get any baby I would raise it, of course it would really be different because there would be no TV for the little guy/gal and wouldn't eat meat and probably would eventually want to go to to Mcdonald.s and he/she can wait til they are atleast 12 to make up their minds on wha they want to eat, poor kid huh? But I would do my best to raise it peaceful and loving and of course being a psychology major the normal development wouldn't apply so I would have to make sure to fulfill his/her needs. Everyone should be loved, right? big hugs to you and your daughter

Sure I would take care of it and teach it everything I know and wait for its parents to come back and pick it up. They would be thankful to me and let me go on vacation with them to another galaxy and I would send birthday and graduations cards and gifts the the little creature and it would call me Aunty and grow up to be the first ambassador to earth from their species.
