That is a really good question! Maybe its because they value the lives of cute little furry animals more than they value the life of a big cow. But really, what's the difference? They are all animals and they all have lives just the same. So why prioritize one species over another? Hmmmm, it will be interesting to see the responses on this one.

I love animals, but also am a carnivore. I abhor using animals solely for vanity purpose. I do not have a problem with beef, sheep or pork leathers, because we use every part of those animals. However, I do not eat veal because of the inhumane these little creatures are confined. I would not wear the fur of any animal that was not totally consumed; such as a mink. However. I love meat and fish. I do not care for fur (except the fake stuff), but if people choose to wear it , that is their right.

There are functional reasons to wear leather.
Most fur is worn strictly for decorative purposes. Decoration of the body is seen as a less wothy reason to kill a creature, than true utilitarian function.
They don't bother those who wear fir, as that is a plant product coming from Fir Trees. If they did Christmas trees would be in trouble.

fur, not fir that would be tree rights activists, anyway, they do pick on leather, but they know they have a better chance of convincing people that fur is cruel b/c fur seems more like teh animal than leather does. animal rights activists tend to be morons who care more about saving animals than people though for example PETA's chief wouldn't support testing on animals even if it caused cancer to be cured.

They wear leather too. I mean, they wear leather boots, jackets, and belts. And frankly, leather isn't rare and endangered. But mink, bear, and other animal fur is. Like jungle and forest animals. My aunt wears fur, but she's gotta have a license to keep them. I wear faux fur. It's cheap and safe for the animal enviroment. Plus, I don't want PETA up on my neck. And leather is more of a utility wear than fur, so they can see it as pointless to even worry about leather, throw pain on leather you can just wipe it off, but throw paint on fur, you're in trouble. Fur is just for a decorative reason, unless you live in the Northern region where it's bitterly cold then PETA can't blame you. Think about it, if they went to the Acrtic or Polar region, they'd have to slay a polor bear to stay alive and keep warm too.

My guess is that the animal is probably killed for food before the skins are removed ?
But then some activists do not like us eating meat either.
I have heard that plants (lettuce) scream when pulled out of the ground.
What is left that we can eat and be PC and good people (in the eyes of activists, but I personally do not care) I am sure that apples hurt when we bite them.

They pick on anyone that wears or eats animals. Leather is included, it just looks so much better to throw blood on a fur coat and not a leather coat. More dramatic.

Animal rights activists are morons. If they ruled the world, we would all starve to death while skunks roamed the streets squirting people. Most animal rights activists are hypocrites. The big deal on fir is nuts.

First off.Fir is a type of pine.Fur is animal hair.Animal activists like PETA go around throwing red paint on anyone who where's animal products. If they used more intelligent methods they'd probably gain some ground rather than being arrested for assault.

Ever notice that these animal rights people generally have contempt for the human race?
On the street, they'll run pass and totally ignore a car accident victim to throw red paint on somebody's fur coat.
How did we come to this?
